Natchez Trace Compact“In 2016, the Natchez Trace Parkway experienced a 1.8% increase in the number of recreational visits from the 2015 figures,” stated Superintendent Mary Risser. “Three of the 10 most visited parks in the nation are found in the Southeast Region: Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smokey Mountains National Park, and the Natchez Trace Parkway.”

The Mississippi Lignite Mining Company (MLMC), which manages Red Hills Mine, recently donated $50,000 to the Parkway to rehabilitate trails in the area. The Red Hills Mine operates east of the Natchez Trace Parkway (Parkway) near the Little Mountain overlook at the Jeff Busby campground.

Beginning Tuesday, January 24, 2017, the Mount Locust Inn and Plantation site along the Natchez Trace Parkway will be open six days a week. Hours of operation will be Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, and closed on Monday.

RIDGELAND, MS – The Natchez Trace Parkway invites visitors to enjoy the talents and sounds of local musicians at the Parkway Information Cabin on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
Effective immediately, officials have closed the Natchez Trace Parkway motor road between the northern terminus at Highway 100 (milepost 442) to Highway 46 (milepost 429), Pinewood Road in Leipers Fork, Tennessee. The closure is necessary due to snow and a winter storm advisory forecast of freezing rain. The duration of the closure is undetermined at this time. Parkway officials will work to reopen the area as soon as possible.
