Pioneers were industrious about having fun, as evidenced by crosscut saw competitions!

BLUEGRASS MUSIC AND SQUARE DANCING LIVEN UP FRENCH CAMP PIONEER DAY

Load up the wagons and bring your family and friends! This year’s Pioneer Day will be bustin’ loose with music, crafts, dancing, cooking and more. It’s a free and educational, family fun day, Saturday, May 12th at French Camp, MS.

Festivities start at 9:00 in the morning and carry on ‘till 4:00 in the evening. Listen to live music all day long as period artisans demonstrate tatting, chair caning, wood carving, quilting, and basket weaving.

Drop by in the morning for some square dance lessons under the big top and stay for an afternoon bluegrass concert featuring Southern Flair, The Russell Burton Family, Uncle Pug’s Bluegrass Band, and special guest, Alan Sibley.

Other activities for the day include buggy and pony rides, a crosscut saw competition, petting zoo, self-guided boardwalk tours, and door prizes. Eat to your heart’s content at the barbeque buffet lunch, concession stands, Council House Café boxed lunches, and full Council House menu for supper.

Admission is free and the entire event is open to public on Saturday, May 12th. Wander through the historic village of cabins, museum, antebellum home, and enjoy life as it used to be at Pioneer Day in French Camp, MS.
