The Natchez Trace Parkway temporarily closed the Historic Mount Locust Inn until the structure can be stabilized, and visitors can safely view the house. Repair work on the historic home will begin soon.

NATCHEZ, MS – The Natchez Trace Parkway temporarily closed the Historic Mount Locust Inn until the structure can be stabilized, and visitors can safely view the house. Repair work on the historic home will begin soon.

The grounds and information center at Mount Locust will remain open daily from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Visitors are able to view the exterior of the home, the enslaved person’s cemetery, the Chamberlain family cemetery, and the historic Old Trace from a walking trail around the grounds. Park rangers are available at the information center to provide additional resources to those visiting the site.

The Mount Locust Inn and Plantation are located at milepost 15.5 on the Natchez Trace Parkway, near Natchez, Mississippi. For additional information, please call (800) 305-7417.
