TUPELO, MS:  The Natchez Trace Parkway invites children and their families to “Boatmen of the Natchez Trace,” a special Junior Ranger program held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 10:00 am.  Did you know in the early 1800s men would walk over 500 miles of the Old Natchez Trace? Boatmen, men from the Ohio River Valley, would float down the Mississippi River on barges, sell their goods in Natchez, and then walk home on the Natchez Trace. Join a park ranger for this 45-minute program to discover what these men might have carried on their journey home. This free hands-on program is ideal for children seven to 12 years old, but all ages are welcome.

The Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor Center is located at milepost 266 on the Natchez Trace Parkway, near Tupelo, Mississippi. For additional information, please call (800) 305-7417.
