TRAVEL NOT RECOMMENDED ON THE NATCHEZ TRACE PARKWAY DUE TO HAZARDOUS ROAD CONDITIONS

As a result of winter weather conditions, the Natchez Trace Parkway has issued a travel advisory from Hwy 8 near Houston, MS to the northern terminus near Nashville, TN.

TUPELO, MS: As a result of winter weather conditions, the Natchez Trace Parkway has issued a travel advisory from Hwy 8 near Houston, MS to the northern terminus near Nashville, TN.

The Parkway is experiencing icing conditions from Hwy 8, at mile marker 230 north.  The bridges in this area are icy and considered hazardous, and travelers are strongly advised not to use the Natchez Trace Parkway in this area.

Additional precipitation is in the forecast with continued icy conditions which could affect the Natchez Trace Parkway. Due to the increased chance for hazardous weather conditions, the Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor Center in Tupelo will close at 12:30 p.m.
