The impassable section of trail will be marked with flagging at the beginning and end of the affected area. This closure is necessary to repair a trail bridge damaged by a fallen tree.

TUPELO, MS: The Natchez Trace Parkway has reopened the closed sections of the Parkway motor road previously closed due to Tropical Storm “Isaac,” and the Parkway is open from Natchez, Mississippi to Nashville, Tennessee. An existing detour in the Jackson, MS, area due to road construction remains in effect between US Highway 49 at milepost 92.9 and I-55 at milepost 101.1.

The closure is necessary to prepare for the heavy rains and winds forecasted for the storm “Isaac.” The duration of the closure is undetermined at this time, but the Parkway will work to reopen the area as soon as possible.

Natchez Trace Parkway Closes Rocky Springs Site at Milepost 54.8 – Claiborne County, MS

The Natchez Trace Parkway will close the Rocky Springs Site at noon, Tuesday, August 28, 2012. The closure is necessary to prepare for the heavy rains and winds forecasted for the storm “Isaac.” Travelers are also advised to avoid using the Parkway in southern Mississippi during the storm and in the aftermath, due to the possibilities of falling trees and other obstructions.
