Labor Day weekend is almost here and there are some fun events along the Natchez Trace Parkway! As the Natchez Trace winds through Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee, each community offers exciting events to visitors and residents. We’re hoping we’ll have some great weather and that everyone has a safe and fun holiday.

2012 Labor Day Events Along the Natchez Trace

Labor Day weekend is almost here and there are some fun events along the Natchez Trace Parkway! As the Natchez Trace winds through Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee, each community offers exciting events to visitors and residents. We’re hoping we’ll have some great weather and that everyone has a safe and fun holiday! Here are a few Labor Day weekend events:

Natchez, Mississippi:

Full Moon Paddle – When the sun sets, the fun begins! You never know what you’ll discover on this amazing adventure when you explore the waterways and creatures in the light of the moon. The trip includes a boat, paddle, PFD, glow sticks, and guided tour. 

Chain Reaction Afghan Workshop – Crochet a beautiful afghan – made from 20 motifs – and learn many new stitches! 

Tupelo, Mississippi:

Enjoy live music during Labor Day weekend! You can listen to Tatum Shappley, Busted Screen Door, and Wishbone.

Colbert County, Alabama:

Coon Dog Graveyard Labor Day Celebration – When Mr. Key Underwood buried his faithful dog Troop in the Freedom Hills of North Alabama, he established an annual tradition among coon hunters, families, friends, and strangers, alike, who join together at the cemetery to remember the coonhounds buried there and to celebrate Labor Day with live Blue Grass music, buck dancing, a liar’s contest, and Southern Barbecue.

89th Shoals Area Labor Council’s Labor Day Celebration – Labor Day in Spring Park, Tuscumbia, is celebrated with a parade, live music, traditional political speeches, and beauty contests. This event is the nation’s oldest labor union celebration.

Franklin, Tennessee:

Franklin Jazz Festival – Don’t miss the cool jazz, mouth-watering food, and refreshing drinks! The Franklin Jazz Festival music and art will be in Liberty Hall with food and art for sale in the adjoining Heritage Room.

Collinwood, Tennesee:

Old Timer’s Day – This community-wide festival takes place on Saturday, September 1. Breakfast begins at 6:30 am. The parade featuring Mr. and Mrs. Old Timer as grand marshals begins at 10:00 am.

Hohenwald, Tennessee:

Amber Falls Winery – Visit Hohenwald for their Amber Falls Winery event (16th Ave. Jazz!)

Nashville, Tennessee:
