Natchez Trace Parkway Begins Repairing Parkway Bridge Over US 82, Webster County, Mississippi

Tupelo, MS – Natchez Trace Parkway officials announce that repairs on the bridge over US 82 near Mathiston, MS will begin on September 4, 2013.  This bridge was damaged from the impact of a truck westbound on US 82.  DCMS, Inc. of Vicksburg, MS is the contractor and work should be completed in early 2014.

Beginning September 4, 2013, visitors traveling on the Parkway will encounter an area of about ¼ mile where there is one-lane traffic.  North and southbound traffic will be utilizing the same lane with traffic flow being controlled by an automated signaling system.  Delays should be very minimal.

Motorists on US 82 should experience delays only during two short intervals; one when the damaged beam is removed and the other when the new beam is set in place.  During these two periods, two-way traffic will be placed on the east-bound lanes.

Both parkway visitors and local traffic on US 82 are encouraged to use caution due to construction traffic around the work area.  Short delays should be anticipated.
