TUPELO, MS:  To commemorate Women’s History Month, the Natchez Trace Parkway will show the family-friendly film Pearl at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the Parkway Visitor Center near Tupelo.   The running time of the film is 107 minutes.

Pearl is an inspiring story of a legendary Chickasaw woman who became the youngest licensed pilot in American history.  The film was the recipient of the Best of Show award at the 2009 Indie Fest, among other awards. The story of Eula “Pearl” Carter Scott embodies the national theme for Women’s History Month, “Women Inspiring Innovation through Imagination-Celebrating Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.”  It also reflects the rich cultural history of the Natchez Trace.

This program is free to the public.  The Parkway Visitor Center is located along the Parkway at milepost 266, just north of Tupelo, Mississippi.  For more information about this and other Parkway programs, please visit our website at www.nps.gov/natr, or call 1-800-305-7417.
