As the weather warms up, hues of color are sure to fill the wood line and make any journey even more spectacular than usual. That’s why spring is one of our favorite times to get out and explore one of America’s favorite National Scenic Byways.

5 of Your Favorite Spring Events on the Natchez Trace

Before you know it, springtime will be in full swing on the historic Natchez Trace Parkway. As the weather warms up, hues of color are sure to fill the wood line and make any journey even more spectacular than usual. That’s why spring is one of our favorite times to get out and explore one of America’s favorite National Scenic Byways. So if you’re like us, and you’re looking for your next reason to get outdoors and view beautiful scenery, consider checking out one of these fun March events happening along the Parkway.

Natchez Spring Pilgrimage of Antebellum Homes – March 5 – April 5

Taking place on eight individual days during a month-long period, Natchez’s annual spring pilgrimage has been wowing visitors for more than 85 years. During this time, 24 historic, antebellum homes open their doors to visitors from all over the world. Best of all, many of these homes are privately owned by descendants of the home’s builders, mean there are plenty of unique stories to be shared during a tour of these incredible homes.

Dulcimer Day at the Tupelo Visitor’s Center – March 5

This event is sponsored by the North Mississippi Dulcimer Association, an organization that teaches dulcimer history, tradition, craftsmanship, and music by sharing its knowledge and talents. Stop by the Tupelo Visitor’s Center to kick off spring with the “sweet sound” that gave this instrument its name. The sounds are sure to take you back in time to the days of the Old Trace. After all, the Appalachian mountain dulcimer is the first instrument developed exclusively in the United States.

Florence Wine Fest – March 12

Explore 100+ fantastic wines from around the globe and local food pairings from some of the Shoals’ best chefs all while soaking in the electric atmosphere of cobble-stoned Mobile Plaza in the heart of historic downtown Florence, AL. Plus, ticket holders will enjoy special events and discounts all weekend long at many participating downtown businesses!

Franklin’s Farmers Market at the Factory – March 12

Enjoy home grown goodness at the Farmer’s Market at the Factory. Nearly 100 vendors with fresh produce, cheeses, herbs, flowers and crafters!  All of the “staples” you need will be there and then some! Thanks for your support of the best “producer only” market in Tennessee!

Tupelo Don’t Be Cruel BBQ Duel – March 18-20

Head over to downtown Tupelo for three days of great music, excellent times, and some of the best barbeque you’ve ever tasted. Up to 100 teams will compete on both Saturday and Sunday to serve up some incredible southern flavors. A North Mississippi favorite, don’t miss this one!
