The Crockett Theatre Board is pleased to announce the return of The World Famous
Glenn Miller Orchestra. Back by popular demand, The Glenn Miller Orchestra performs
an encore performance of their very popular stage show on Tuesday, August 23, 7:00pm
at Lawrenceburg’s historic Crockett Theatre.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra plays over 300 dates per year around the world, from Iowa
to Tennessee to Japan. The 19 member band, internationally regarded as one of the
world’s top Swing era dance bands, is famous for hits like Moonlight Serenade, In the
Mood, Pennsylvania 6-5000, and the music industry’s first ever-awarded gold record,
Chattanooga Choo Choo.

The orchestra was founded in 1938 by Glenn Miller and quickly rose to number 1 in the
Big Band Swing era of the late 1930’s. The patriotic Miller disbanded the orchestra in
1942 to volunteer for military service in World War II. On December 15, 1944, as Major
Miller flew to Paris ahead of his reinstated orchestra, his plane was lost over Europe,
never to be seen again.

In 1956, by popular demand, the Miller Estate authorized the formation of the present
Glenn Miller Orchestra. Today, the orchestra performs for more than 500,000 people
annually, now under the direction of bandleader Gary Tole. The orchestra continues to
play many of the original Miller arrangements from the 30’s as well as a few modern
selections in the big-band style. Their entire repertoire exceeds 1,700 compositions,
keeping the band popular with both young and old.

Tickets for The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra are now available at the
Parks & Recreation office at Rotary Park, at $25 reserved seating, and $15 general
admission. Tickets are also available online at www.lawrenceburgtn.gov. For more ticket
