RIDGELAND, MS – The Natchez Trace Parkway (Parkway) and the Craftsmen’s Guild of Mississippi invite visitors to commemorate Choctaw heritage on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 9:30 am at the Old Trace and Brashears Stand site on the Parkway. Join representatives from the Parkway, Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, City of Ridgeland, and the Mississippi Craft Center as we dedicate the Chisha Foka Multi-Use Trail along the Parkway.

“The Chisha Foka Multi-Use Trail passes directly through Choctaw homelands and commemorates the rich Choctaw heritage along the Parkway,” said Superintendent Mary Risser.

The event continues until 3:00 pm at the Mississippi Craft Center. Members of the Craftsmen’s Guild of Mississippi will display their handcrafted pieces of art and demonstrate their craft. Mr. Joseph Wolf, Community Liaison for Historic Preservation of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, will speak at 11:00 am about the Choctaw connection to the area. Parking for all events is available at the Mississippi Craft Center.
