Thank You, Everyone for a Great 75th Anniversary Event!

The Natchez Trace Compact would like to thank the National Park Service, Eastern National and the Natchez Trace Parkway Association for sponsoring the Natchez Trace Parkway 75th Anniversary event. This fun, family-friendly event was a big success and we hope everyone enjoyed all of the activities.

Natchez Trace Parkway to Celebrate 75 Years with Music, Memories, and Fun

TUPELO, MS – The Natchez Trace Parkway will celebrate 75 years as a national park on Saturday, May 18, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The free, family-oriented event will feature live music, dozens of exhibitors and historical personas, dignitaries, children’s activities, classic cars and much more. Festivities will be held at the Parkway Visitor Center, located just north of Tupelo on the Natchez Trace Parkway at milepost 266.

EXPEDITION NATCHEZ 1813: BECOMING OLD HICKORY – April 12 – 21, 2013

Join the Natchez Trace Parkway Association as they “educate the next generation” about the War of 1812 and Andrew Jackson’s courageous struggle to return the young Tennessee Militia to their homes. For this he earned the title “Old Hickory”.

Motorcycling the Natchez Trace

The Natchez Trace Parkway is the ultimate motorcycle route. It’s 444 miles from Natchez, MS to Nashville, TN through beautiful scenery, curvy roads, history, interesting stops, minimal traffic, places to stay and good restaurants.

Heritage Area and Parkway Partner on Signage

The Mississippi Hills National Heritage Area and the Natchez Trace Parkway have partnered on the installation of welcome signage at the northern and southern boundaries of the heritage area along the parkway.

Pioneer Day at the Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor Center, March 23, 2013

The Tombigbee Pioneer Group will perform living history demonstrations that show the challenges faced and creative solutions developed by those Americans who lived in the area from the 1700s to 1840. The demonstrations will take place at the Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor Center (located at milepost 266 near Tupelo, Mississippi) from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013.

Natchez Trace Parkway celebrates Black History Month with the release of the travel bug: Natchez Trace Parkway 2: Over the Bridge

This travel bug’s first goal is to stop near the town of Natchez and then bridge into more modern history by visiting places where famous 20th and 21st Century African Americans, were born.
